Welcome to the Education Institute!
The Education Institute is a continuing education program for library information workers developed by The Partnership of Provincial and Territorial Library Associations of Canada. The program offers one-hour audio and web conferences, and 4-6 week online courses. Speakers in the Education Institute are leaders in their fields: knowledgeable, experienced, innovative and widely recognized.
Sessions and courses are open to anyone who wishes to participate. Members of the Provincial and Territorial Library Associations, and their affiliates participate at members’ preferred rates.

on-line courses from your desktop
These courses are conducted on the Web and are usually based on instruction and exercises received once-a-week for four to eight weeks, depending on the topic. A discussion board and a mid-course teleconference provide the basis for discussion. This can be done anywhere and on your schedule.
audio conferences
These teleconferences are work-efficient and cost-effective. Charges are by site, not by person. Any number can participate at a site without extra charge. Staff from a library department, staff of a complete library or staff with common interests from a group of libraries are joining the teleconferences to work together on the ideas being presented. These calls are providing a departure point for local planning and discussion of service. For small libraries, these calls are bringing staff together in a way that is changing how they work together. Librarians in one- and two-person libraries are taking advantage of the savings by coming together with colleagues at a central location. Take advantage of the special 20% discount by registering for five audio conferences at the same time.
web conferences
This is an expanded version of our popular audio conferences. You will need a computer and the ability to get on the Internet... and a telephone. That is it. No special hardware; no special software. You will be given an address on the Web at which you will sign in with a password that will be given to you in your registration confirmation. You will be able to see the presenter's desktop and see what he or she is doing as you watch. Like all audio conferences, there is no limit on the number of people that might be around the phone at each location. The limitation will be in how many people can comfortably see the computer. If you have a data projector, there is probably no limit.
face-to-face programs
Quality programs are being given by the associations of The Partnership across the country every year. If you are a member of one of the associations in The Partnership, you can attend any of these programs at local member's rates.
